MOBITOL (beta) by Cousin Isaac
lets me copy and paste text or html source from websites in my Nokia's default browser (s60 webkit) and Opera Mini. If your phone can copy and paste it might work for you.

FAQ

Q: OK, so the website's text is in the text box, now how do I copy and paste it?

A: This works differently with different phones. Refer to your phone's manual to select, cut, copy and paste text.

On my Nokia e61i, I hold down the shift key (up arrow) while using the navigation buttons to highlight the text I want to copy. With the text highlited, Ctrl-x, Ctrl-c and Ctrl-v are cut, copy and paste, just like on my computer.

On some other Nokia models, hold down the pencil / edit key, (which in may be on the side of the phone) or the # or * key while navigating with the D-Pad or joystick. This will highlight the text and bring up the option to copy it.

When using the # (hash) or * (star / asterix) keys, if T9 word-completion is enabled, an underline indicates that the T9 software is guessing at the word. In this case, you may have to navigate away from the word so that the cursor appears before using the # or * keys.

Q:.Very little text is retrieved when I use "get text" on some sites.

A: Some sites use frames or Flash (or both) which are not supported yet, but there are workarounds:

Try using "get html" and look in the html source for a frame tag like <FRAME src="http://someurl.com/">.

Copy just the url part: http://someurl.com/ and then try "get text" on the new url.

If the site uses Flash, try looking in the html source for an EMBED tag like <Embed src="someFlashMovie.swf"> and copy the file name: someFlashMovie.swf.

Append the filename to the url of the site like so: http://someurl.com/someFlashMovie.swf and then try navigating to this new url.

This should cause the browser to download the flash movie so that you can use it in the flash player on your phone (if it has one.) Not all flash movies will work however.

Q:Some of the source code is displayed when I choose "Get Text."

A: Yeah, I'm wokring on it.

Q: Sometimes no text or the text for a site called ReadyAssist is displayed instead of the site I am trying to get.

A: In that case you may have mistyped the url. Readyassist is the hosting company for mobitol. If a site is not found, sometimes the Readyasist site is displayed instead.

Q: How can I contact mobitol?

A: Send an email to "info AT mobitol DOT com."

Q: The Open New Window link doesn't open a new window.

A: if you are using the s60 default browser (webkit) and you come to the site via a Google search and your google preferences are set to "Format web pages for your phone" , Google's formatting will break this feature. Try going to mobitol.com directly or using the "view in html" link that google adds at the bottom of the page.

If you are using another browser like Opera Mini, this feature probably just doesn't work. How sad!
